My Uncle would shake his leg vigorously whenever he needed to think hard over something…..

that got me thinking…as I played Luminosity’s iPhone brain game..I found that I  was  better at it ..if I moved side to side .Rhythmically moving side to side ..like my Uncles movements ..helped me to think more clearly.

Whats going on?

The Thalamus.I think ..by moving side to side ..we activate the ventral thalamus in pulses with rhythmic movements… that  must set up some sort of secondary sympathetic dis-inhibition ..pulse like in  the dorsal thalamus that helps the frontal cortex to function more actively.

You heard it here first.

Edit: The Motor and pre Motor cortex are the precursors to our ‘thinking brain’.The primary sequencing area that made way for the specialized sequencing – serialised proccesing of  the left language areas and the simplified and generalized sequencing – memory areas of the Frontal cortex.Thats why there is such a close relationship that is reflected in this behaviour ( motor movement = eased conflict thinking )
