NYT article on the nature and evolution of grasses.

I think that the extinction event that caused the demise of the dinosaurs also caused grasses to flourish.

Would larger animals like the Dino’s have just crushed grasslands……their demise also meant that hardy grasses that could survive without insects ( who may also have died in large numbers at the time ) unlike the rest of the natural fauna.

Grasses seem to me to be a result of the catastrophe and the result of the remaining smaller animals that survived the Jurassic extinction.

Animals and catastrophe maketh the grass.

And as the article shows…Grass maketh the Man ( well civilisation)
